1. What information does “Knotted” collect/track about me?

“Knotted” is a matrimonial service, established to provide an easy way for our members to meet each other. To accomplish this, we personally meet our prospective members, create their profiles and enter those details in our system. Our matching technology provides matches based on their pre-selected criteria. In order to do this, we ask for certain personal information that is held on our systems.

Information Collected by “Knotted”

 

“Knotted” gather information only that has been disclosed /entered by the members during their profile collection.

There are two types of member-submitted information we collect: Public and Private. We define Public information as personal information that may be shared with a “prospective match”, such as gender, age, height, photograph, etc. Private information is defined as any information that allows others to contact a member other than through “Knotted” or allows the collection of information about the member other than public information.

 

Public: To accomplish our goal of bringing compatible people together, we must gather personal information, which may or may not include: customer specified “Knotted” gender, age, religion, income range, profession, preference/lifestyle information, general geographic location, photograph and horoscope.

 

Private: This information is gathered from members who apply for the various services our company offers. This information includes, but is not limited to: email address, first name, last name, mailing address, zip code, and telephone number. “Knotted” also allow members to submit public and private information on behalf of others – child/ward, sibling or friend. If such child/ward, sibling or friend does not wish this information to be shared, she/he has the option to request removal of such information after providing the necessary evidence that the information pertains to her/him. You are required to provide us with certain personal information listed in the above to help us provide a safe service and, if required, verify your identity when you contact us. Your private information will never be sold to any other party and will never be disclosed by us on “Knotted” without your explicit permission.

 

2. What does “Knotted” do with the information it collects/tracks?

“Knotted” uses the information it collects in the following ways:

 

Public: Public information supplied by members is intended to be stored on our systems; used for searching and matching purposes. Public information cannot be used to identify a specific member by name, address, etc. (except photograph, sharing of which is voluntary).

 

Private: We primarily use member’s email addresses to verify enrolment and to send emails. Email addresses and phone numbers are not disclosed to members. We may also use user’s email address to send news regarding our company, but the users may choose not to receive such emails by unsubscribing. Email addresses may also be used in private correspondence with the user for customer service issues.

 

Financial information you provide: Financial information that is collected is used to bill the user for products and services. All other private information submitted by the user is confidential and is not disclosed except as required by law or to protect members of “Knotted”. All private information except financial information submitted during the process of a financial transaction and certain account-related information collected at the time of registration can be requested by a member to be updated or deleted at any time. While “Knotted” exercises reasonable care to prevent data misuse, we strongly recommend you to establish the authenticity and intent of members before giving our personally identifiable information such as your email address and phone number.

Information provided to customer support: Messages you send to our customer support team are private between you and our customer support staff and management. Any communications from you or from others, relating to your membership or activity on “Knotted” may be stored in a file specific to you.

 

“Knotted” usage information: We may collect information on how you use “Knotted” for the purposes of improving our services. This includes collecting and storing information relating to features you use and pages you visit on “Knotted”. See also the section on “Cookies” below. This information is mainly used for our own purposes.

 

We may use additional information to do internal research on our users’ demographics, interests, and behaviour to better understand and serve you and our community. This information may include the URL that you just came from (whether this URL is on our site or not), which URL you next go to (whether this URL is on our site or note), what browser you are using and your IP address.

 

Users who login have their IP addresses recorded. This information will only be provided to legal authorities in cases of suspected fraud or for law enforcement purposes. This information is stored security and will not be provided to other members or any unauthorised parties.

 

3. With whom does “Knotted” share the information it collects/tracks?

Except where you are expressly informed on the phone or in person or as described in this privacy policy, we do not sell, rent, share, trade or give away any of your private information. However, we reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or comply with a judicial proceeding, Court order, or legal process served on our company. “Knotted” will never share your private information, without you express permission.

 

4. Tell me about “Knotted” policy on correcting, updating, or removing personal information.

 

“Knotted” allow you to request editing or removing both public and private information from our database. On receiving a request to do so, “Knotted” will remove all member information from its database. The request needs to be in the form of an email or a written document as evidence for requesting this removal/editing/updating.

 

5. How will I know of changes in “Knotted” privacy policy?

 

If we make a material change to our privacy policy, we will prominently send out an email and post a link to those changes to all our member email addresses, so you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner materially different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify you by way of an email or phone call. We will give you a choice as to whether or not we can use information in this different manner and act accordingly.

“Knotted” takes every precaution to protect your information. When our registration process asks you to enter sensitive information, we do everything in our power to protect your information. We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us. All your information is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information. 7. Tell me about “Knotted”’s email policy.

 

We use email extensively to help you find your match on “Knotted”. Our main email products and services includes:

 

a. Member responses/questions should you be a prospective match;
b. Partner matches for you;
c. Newsletters updating you of the latest features on our site, and/or
d. Announcements of special events which “Knotted” is associated with.

We use your email address to allow us to operate our services. As a “Knotted” member, you are automatically subscribed to all of the above, as an integral part of our matchmaking services to you. However, at any time, you may choose to manage your subscriptions to one or more of the above by contacting us. We reiterate that we will never sell/rent your email address to any third party, unless you expressly permit us to do so. In fact, we do not allow ANYONE to get your email address, not even other “Knotted” members.

 

“Knotted” reserves the right to read any of your messages where we receive complaints from the recipient of a message or have reason to believe that you are in breach of our Terms and Conditions.

 

8. Control of your password

 

You are responsible for protecting your login details (your email address and password). Do not disclose this information to third parties. If you choose to share your login details with third-parties for other services, you are responsible for all actions taken with this information. We strongly recommend using different passwords on different sites and that you review the privacy policy of any parties to whom you provide an email address and password.

 

9. Cookies

 

Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored by your web browser in a file on your computer’s hard drive when you use our website. We use cookies to deliver information and fresh content specific to your interests and to improve the experience of using our site. Cookies are widely used on most major websites.

 

“Knotted” uses “sessions” cookies to temporarily store information to help you use the site. This information is used to deliver the right content to you as you use the site and avoids unnecessarily asking you to log in. Session cookies expire immediately when you close your web browser or are deleted after a period of no activity on “Knotted”.

 

“Knotted” also uses “persistent” cookies to personalise the user experience, to help protect our members and to provide us with research information (such as how often members visit “Knotted” each month). Persistent cookies allow us to identify users and assist us in identifying any abuse of the “Knotted” service. A persistent auto-login cookie is also stored when members select the “remember me” option when logging in. The auto-login cookie is removed when the member logs out.

 

10. Advertising and third party links

 

Some “Knotted” advertisers may request information directly from users, or link to sites that do so. “Knotted” has no control over its advertisers’ privacy policies, and encourages users to review such policies prior to submitting any personal information to them.
